A week of non stop events under a covered Meeting House Square from Sunday 16th – Sunday 23rd of August
From Sunday August 16th to Sunday August 23rd Temple Bar Cultural Trust are working alongside a host of organisations to bring you a week long programme of unique outdoor events on under a covered Meeting House Square!
Yes for one week only we are covering the outdoor space that is Meeting House Square so you can attend a whole host of events safe in the knowledge that the rain won’t ruin your fun!
Below is the full line up of events:
Sunday August 16th, 2.30 – 11pm. Ukulele Festival – Ukulele Hooley – Irelands first international Ukulele Festival!
A full day of all things Ukulele will open the week long programme of events this August. The day will include beginners workshops, food and drink and acts from across the world including: Gus & Fin (Scotland), Winin’ Boys (Belgium), The Uke Box (USA/Netherland) Vertigo Smyth (Ireland) and more. This is a ticketed event and tickets cost €15 and can be purchased from www.tickets.ie. There will be a limited number of tickets available from the Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre at 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2. More info: www.ukulelehooley.com
Monday August 17th, 4pm – 7pm. Art Jam Ireland
Explore your creative side and take the opportunity to forget about the stresses of everyday life for a while! Aimed at all ages and experience levels this is an afternoon of fun and painting. At the end of the evening you can take away your very own original piece of art work. All professional art materials supplied – just turn up and paint! Tuesday August 18th, 7.30pm (doors open at 4pm). Fashion Breakthrough presents Uprising
A night of all things fashion where you will have the opportunity to enjoy a fashion show packed with creations from a whole host of young irish designers with host Holly White. This fashion show will also showcase works from a range of our designers from Designer Mart at Cow’s Lane – not to be missed! Tickets €15 from www.tickets.ie or call into Temple Bar Information Centre, 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
Wednesday August 19th, 6.30 – 8.30pm (gates open at 6pm). Culture and the City – The Debate. Is this City Fit For Purpose?
Exchange Dublin in association with Temple Bar Cultural Trust are calling on citizens, funders, public representatives, artists and more to take part in ‘Culture and the City – the Debate’, a masked anonymous debate and theatrical event where invited guests and audience members will respond to broad questions about Culture and the City, including the exploration of issues such as control and regulation of space and the citizens level of involvement in this. This is a free event and does not require tickets – just mask up and come along!
Thursday August 20th, 5pm – 11pm. Porterhouse Presents
Porterhouse Presents a night of music on Meeting House Square along with gourmet food. Full bar. This is an open square and it unticketed.
Friday August 21st, 6pm – 1.30am. DEAF Fundraiser (Dublin Electronic Arts Festival)
DEAF present a night of non stop music to raise funds for their upcoming festival including The Jimmy Cake, Dark Room Notes, Spilly Walker, Boxcutter, Channel One, Thread Pulls, Sarsparilla, Patrick Kelleher & his Cold and Dead Hands. This is a ticketed event and tickets cost €10 and can be purchased from www.tickets.ie. Tickets will also be available on the door. (Over 18’s)
Saturday August 22nd, 8pm – 1:30am. Funky Seomra – A no alcohol dance event
Beautifully designed ambient space featuring, spectacular visuals, chill out zone with giant comfy Budda Bags, facepainting and play zone with giant jenga, giant twister, paints, interactive games. Organisers explain that ‘this is a night to be yourself and dance freely’ Note this is an alcohol free event. Tickets cost €15 will be available on the door. More info: www.dancefree.ie
Sunday 23rd August, 11am – 5.30pm (reopening at 6.30pm for evening event). Ear Drum Buzz presents DubArtsFest
This event will combine an all-day family fair, FREE and open to all, featuring a mix of live music & performance, storytelling, circus acts, novelty goods, games and food from 11am until 5.30pm. At 18.30 the square will be fenced off for an evening outdoor ‘Whirly Gig’, featuring a full audiovisual show by international VJs from Bristol, Japan and Italy, as well as PowerFM (who will be broadcasting the event live), mixed with live bands. The evening part of this event (starting at 6.30pm) is ticketed and tickets cost €15 and are available from www.tickets.ie and from the Temple Bar Cultural Information Centre at 12 East Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
