Choc-a-block at the Temple Bar Chocolate Festival!

Choc-a-block is the only word to describe our weekend-long Temple Bar Chocolate Festival that took place in indoor and outdoor locations throughout Temple Bar’s Cultural Quarter. Chocolate-making workshops, workshops for children, health talks, informative talks and cooking demonstrations were fully booked-up and enjoyed by people wanting to get stuck into all things chocolatey!

As if by magic the rain stopped just before the screening of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (1971) outdoors in Meeting House Square which received a round of applause by the audience – young and old!  Highlights of the festival include MaSamba Samba School’s ‘The Chocolate Caravan’ with up to 60 green-haired Oompa Loompas patrolling the streets of Temple Bar giving out chocolate treats along the way.  Designer Mart’s chocolate-inspired fashion show took to the streets of the Old City, while Willie Harcourt-Cooze delivered an inspirational talk ‘From Bean to Bar’ describing how he started a cacao farm in Venezuela bringing the raw materials back to Devon where he started his own Chocolate Factory.

The Temple Bar Chocolate Festival ended on Chocolate Sundae – where Meeting House Square was filled with a combination of Chocolate artisan producers from around Ireland along with chocolate produce including chocolate bretzels, pancakes, hot chocolate, good coffee along with a decadent Chocolate Fondue Fountain as centre-piece.  Chocolate tunes, balloons and entertainment allowed everyone to fully enjoy and experience chocolate through all the senses!
