“Brandwashed” by John O’Connor Opens Tomorrow at NGG (No Grants Gallery)

We are pleased to welcome an exciting new painting exhibition to the No Grants Gallery from John O’Connor, one of 37 artists who trades each week at Designer Mart at Cow’s Lane in the Old City area of Temple Bar.  He is a Fine Art graduate from the National College of Art and Design and a MSc graduate from Trinity College Dublin. John works with various media and computer illustration to produce original pieces of art. His artworks are in numerous private collections. More recently John was nominated for tow Adidas Originals Design Awards.

Brandwashed is a new exhibition which aims to explore the relationship between society and modern day pop and media iconography. John uses this iconography as a medium to critique our media saturated and brand obsessed culture. The work itself is composed of spray painted figures and carefully hand painted characters and logos that are used to create a visual representation of the culture in which the work is based. This exhibition will run until June 1st.

Come along to the opening night tonight tomorrow Wednesday 20th May at 6pm!

NGG (No Grants Gallery) is a new gallery and exhibition space for artists who are currently working without public funding support. The new gallery will be curated and managed by Dublin artist Carol Eakins and the system is very simple – artists will pay a nominal fifty euro fee for a two-week exhibition slot and also receive promotional support from TBCT.
